FX (Foreign Exchange) Volume Survey

The Foreign Exchange Committee launched its inaugural Survey of North American Foreign Exchange Volume in October 2004 in order to provide the market with frequent information on the size and structure of foreign exchange activity in North America.In collaboration with the Foreign Exchange Joint Standing Committee in London, the FXC agreed to collect one month's foreign exchange turnover data covering customer, product, currency pair, and execution data in April and October. Thirty-one leading institutions active in the North American market participated in the initial survey effort. 

  • The April 2008 data tables include all survey statistics:

  • The market share report provides a breakdown of market share and percent ranges held by      quintile.

  • The reporting dealers section lists all the participating institutions.
  • The explanatory notes describes the coverage of and terms used to present the statistics.
